Steve, Jen and Harold have headed over to the coast for some family camping in Morrow Bay. Tomorrow Nathan and I will hit the road to join them. Anthony and Jaime follow up on Friday. Campfires, marshmallows, ocean air and Uno.... here we come!

Happy Mothers Day, I miss you
This mothers day was harder than normal for me. I just found this picture while sorting through a box looking for "black and whites". It's strange that I feel closer to my Mother now than when we lived so many miles apart. Guess that's because I know she is here with me. (another story for later). I really believe she is looking out for me now more than she could before. Although I do miss our phone conversations. Just one more would help me try to understand her estranged relationship with my Grandmother. In this picture we are at the Man Full of Trouble Tavern in Philly (1966). A museum my Grandmother managed. Maybe someday I'll have a picture of the next three generations of woman together.

Lost without Lost
The location (black guys hanging out on street across from funeral parlor) & the black funeral director leads us to think the deceased could be black. Michael or Walt?? But that wouldn't match the "antham" we see that appears to be the last name. Also it looks like the clipping says "from a beam in the..." Do we assume whoever it was hung himself? When Jack read the clipping he became clearly emotional even crying and was ready to jump off a bridge. So why did he tell the funeral director he was "neither" family or friend to the deceased? Is it because Jack feels "lost" off the island and he feels a connection to this dead person (assuming he also felt "lost" and thus hung himself)?
The funeral home Jack went to was "Hoffs/Drawlar" or to put it another way, an anagram of "flash forward."
Even though it appears that Charlie is dead. Remember it appeared to us that Mikhail was dead as well? Desmond still could get scuba gear and open that door to save Charlie! Also, Desmond's flashback was all wrong, he saw Charlie turn off the yellow light after the room was flooded.
Is the deceased man at the funeral parlor Jacob? Was Walt appearing to Locke actually Jacob? Is the island black smoke monster Jacob? Who the heck is Jacob?
I read 9 months to wait for season 4, what's with that?

Dogwood in my back yard
Dogwood has always been a favorite of mine and then to discover we have one in our back yard in Clifton was a wonderful surprise.
The legend of the dogwood tree
In Jesus' time, the dogwood grew To a stately size and a lovely hue.
'Twas strong & firm it's branches interwoven For the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen.
Seeing the distress at this use of their wood Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Never again shall the dogwood grow Large enough to be used so
Slender & twisted, it shall be With blossoms like the cross for all to see.
As blood stains the petals marked in brown The blossom's center wears a thorny crown. All who see it will remember me Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree. Cherished and protected this tree shall be A reminder to all of my agony.
